AMERICAN BRILLIANT is a window panel that incorporates candy dishes, open salt dips, and chandelier pendants from the American Brilliant period which lasted from 18761917. The objects were high cost, labor intensive luxury items. These"cut glass" pieces were decorated by hand using rotating metal or stone wheels to produce a pattern. The four original candy dishes are framed within a chandelier pendant border, evoking the refined atmosphere of a Victorian parlor. In sunlight, the cut crystal creates shifting prismatic reflections that enhance the pieceʼs depth and dimensionality, transforming its appearance as the light shifts throughout the day.
